FIOM Rwanda joins Agri-show 2018 opens at Mulindi grounds

FIOM Rwanda joined other agriculture sector partners for the 13th National Agriculture Show for the year 2018 which opened at Mulindi on June 26th, 2018. This year’s National Agriculture Show is focusing on various technologies as part of efforts to popularize mechanisms to fight effects of climate change among farmers. The 13th Kigali National Agriculture show 2018 runs from June 26 to July 28, 2018, at Mulindi Agri-show ground in Gasabo District, Kigali. In her opening remarks, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Geraldine Mukeshimana, indicated that the event will help link people who have the technologies and farmers. Minister Mukeshimana stressed that said there is need for sufficient quality seeds, fertisers, water, and extension services to ensure productive farming.

The exhibition brings together all the partners of the ministry who participate in the field of agriculture. FIOM Rwanda is represented by the 3 beekeepers cooperatives of the Eastern Province: DUTUBURUBUKI, and COPANYAKA from Kayonza District, as well as COPROMI from Gatsibo District. Representatives of these cooperatives at the Agriculture show will take the opportunity to showcase how honey is extracted and how it is bottled to ensure standardization and quality to meet consumers’ satisfaction.

Chantal Nyiransengimana representing COPROMI cooperative said that what she expects from the exhibition is networking with partners of the agriculture sector, but also to reach out a wider range of clients from the whole country. Honey produced by their cooperative being of superior quality she indicated that it is being very much appreciated, and this exhibition is an excellent place to market the products so that is can be known and sold in different corners of country.

About 150 exhibitors from the farming sector are expected to attend, compared to 115 exhibitors during last year’s similar event, according to information from the Agriculture Ministry.
